Wear-resisting Machinable Ceramics Rod

Shengda Ceramics can customize products according to customers' requirements.

Product Introduction

Machinable ceramics, also known as amorphous ceramics or microcrystalline ceramics, are characterized by high hardness, good chemical stability, strong resistance to wear, and good dimensional stability. Due to its high hardness, machinable ceramics can be widely used in various high-tech fields, such as high-end watches, touch screens, mobile phone casings, etc.

A machinable ceramic rod is a type of advanced ceramic material that can be easily shaped, drilled, or machined using conventional metalworking tools. These rods are engineered to combine the high-performance properties of ceramics (such as thermal stability, electrical insulation, and corrosion resistance) with improved machinability.

Key Features of Machinable Ceramic Rods:

1、High Machinability – Can be turned, milled, drilled, or threaded using standard carbide or diamond tools.

2、Thermal Stability – Retains strength and dimensional stability at high temperatures (often up to 1000°C or more).

3、Electrical Insulation – Excellent dielectric properties, making them useful in electronic and high-voltage applications.

4、Chemical Resistance – Resistant to acids, alkalis, and corrosive environments.

5、Low Thermal Expansion – Minimal dimensional changes under temperature fluctuations.

6、Wear Resistance – Hard and durable, suitable for high-wear applications.

Macor® (Machinable Glass Ceramic) – A well-known machinable ceramic composed of fluorphlogopite mica in a borosilicate glass matrix.

Max Operating Temp: ~800°C

Applications: Vacuum systems, insulators, precision components.
